Construction on Kyle Field began in 1927, and its current form goes back to a rudimentary established building from 19904. The stadium, which opened on September 24, 1927, was constructed using a concrete and steel design that helped make it the first of its kind in America at the time, with seating only about 32,890. Since the stadium had several major renovations and expansions that expanded its capacity, it also added modernized facilities.

Significant renovations and expansions took place in 1953, 1967, 1980, and 2000. It underwent a massively expansive redevelopment project from mid-2014 to late 2015, making it not only the largest stadium in the Southeastern Conference at this point but also across America. The renovation added over 20,000 seats.

Attendance Records

Largest Attendance Figures

Kyle Field has the largest recorded game attendance of any Texas stadium, and it held about 110,633 spectators on October 11, 2014.

Average Attendance Analysis

Texas A&M home football games have always attracted a large number of attendees, with an average attendance revealing just how much the Aggies are supported over the course of a season. The stadium's capacity, along with the team's performance, has helped maintain a high attendance level and further provide some excitement for football fans.

Opponents, weather conditions, and marquee matchups have all played a necessary role in shaping attendance averages. Big games against rivals or teams ranked near the top of college football generally draw larger crowds. That passion and the persistent support of the fan base are largely what has resulted in an impressive set of attendance figures at Kyle Field.

Notable Attendance Milestones

As the site of record-breaking game attendances, historic events, and more, Kyle Field has played host to a number of attendance milestones over the years. The environment for these sold-out crowds has undoubtedly been electric, a treat for fans and players alike.

Its 110,633 admissions for the largest football game in the State of Texas against Ole Miss in 2014 and was at that time made history inside all SEC.

College Football Stadium Comparisons

Kyle Field stands among the largest college football stadiums, creating a uniquely iconic status compared to other venues. The stadium is uniquely suited for American football as it is the 4th largest such venue in NCAA and America 6th world, holding 102,733 spectators at capacity.

On the Whole

The traditions, rich history, and moments have made it one of the premier college football stadiums in the country. The stadium is a cornerstone of Texas A&M University's athletic tradition, mesmerizing fans and players with its spectacle and ability to hold unforgettable events.
