For as long as cards have been produced, people want to possess some of the most precious versions that sit out there in their hoarder's hands. Today, we provide you with the world's rarest sports cards.
1909-11 T206 White Border Honus Wagner (pictured above) – Often regarded as the "holy grail" of trading cards in any sport. Only 200 copies of the card were printed, and one was sold at auction in Hollywood for $3.12m back in 2007 — a figure that remains an all-time record amount laid down on any trading card. That card is of Honus Wagner, widely considered one of the greatest baseball players to ever live. Baseball Cards Topps 1952 Mickey Mantle: Baseball cards are LEGENDARY among collectibles, and this card is a HOME-RUN for collectors since it features one of the game's most famous players. Although, there are only circa 200 of the card left with prices fetching upwards to $5.2m (£3,m) at auction in 2018.
1916 M101-5 Sporting News Babe Ruth — A card featuring history's most iconic baseball player. An estimated 50 such cards have survived, and one went at auction for $1.02 million in 2018.
1957 Topps Football #1 Jim Brown — Another card u won't see many of the greatest football players lace up. The card is estimated to be one of about 50 copies that have ever existed, and another copy was purchased at auction in July 2016 for $312k.
1986 Fleer Michael Jordan #57: Few basketball players have been as famous or successful in their careers, but this card featured a rising star who would become one of the all-time greatest players. Only ten believed examples of cards exist, with one selling for $96K at an auction back in 2016.
1948 Leaf Joe DiMaggio: Another usual suspect, a baseball legend, this time with the large absence section removed when talking about Gehrig. About ten are believed to exist; one was auctioned off in 2016 for $75,000.
Joe Namath (1965 Topps Football #122): This is the card of Joe Namath, one man who arguably made pro football. Only ten copies of the card exist, with one being auctioned off for $60,000 last year.

An estimated ten copies of the card are said to be in existence, with a copy being reported as sold at auction for $50,000 back in 2016. #18 1979 Topps Wayne Gretzky I mean, it's the best hockey player of all-time and still quite affordable. While only about ten are believed to still exist, one sold for $45,000 when it crossed the auction block in 2016.
Topps Jackie Robinson #312>This features the first African American to ever play in a Major League Baseball game. Only about ten copies of the card exist, and one sold for $43k at auction last year.
