The sports card hobby is very much alive and most fans all want one thing to be theirs. It's either their searching for or just trying to find the rare 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle card that has a PSA 10 grade. Anyone collector would be very happy and might even have this as the magnum opus of their collection. Patrick Bet-David has set his sights on this for a good while already and even came across one.
No one would let a 1952 Mickey Mantle card slip from their hands especially if it were graded a 10 by the PSA. Patrick Bet-David had this exact mentality when he met an undisclosed collector. Apparently, he had offered about $19 million for the memorabilia which was still in prime condition.
As fate would have it, the owner declined the offer made by Bet-David. As it stands, he could have been only one of three owners of it in the world. Moreover, this supposed deal could have also been the most expensive that a sports card was ever bought. Just how much was he breaking the record? Well, the last one that was auctioned off sold for about $12.6 million. So, this would have shattered that by about $6.4 million if it were closed.
Bet-David still has plans of trying to know this card. He just might not give up on trying to negotiate a proper price. However, there have been questions about whether or not going over $20 million would still be right considering the long-term value of the card. A lot of competing offers will also be on the table. If not, the only thing that could be holding this record-breaking sale back would be the pride of owning the memorabilia.
