MLB Power Rankings June 2025: Who’s Hot and Who’s Not?

MLB Power Rankings June 2025: Who’s Hot and Who’s Not?

As the MLB season approaches its midway point in June 2025, a clear picture is emerging of the league's top contenders and those struggling to find their footing. The Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles Dodgers lead their respective leagues, while the Colorado Rockies find themselves at the bottom of the standings, reflecting a season of stark contrasts across Major League Baseball.

Who's Hot? Top Contenders Solidifying Their Positions

The Detroit Tigers currently sit atop the MLB standings with an impressive 49-30 (.620) record. Their success has been built on a strong pitching staff, evident in their +82 run differential, the best in the American League. The Tigers have demonstrated consistency, securing a 26-12 home record and a 23-18 road record.

In the National League, the Los Angeles Dodgers are setting the pace with a 48-31 (.608) record. Their offensive prowess is undeniable, boasting an MLB-best 442 runs scored and a +78 run differential. The Dodgers have been particularly dominant at home, with a 30-14 record at Dodger Stadium.

Other notable teams performing well include the Philadelphia Phillies (47-31, .603), who have an impressive 8-2 record in their last ten games, showcasing strong recent form. The Chicago Cubs (46-32, .590) and New York Mets (46-33, .582) also hold strong positions in the National League, with the Cubs boasting a +90 run differential, the best in the NL.

The New York Yankees (45-33, .577) despite a recent 3-7 slump in their last ten games, still maintain a solid record thanks to an exceptional +105 run differential, the highest in MLB. The Houston Astros (45-33, .577) are also performing strongly, with a 7-3 record over their last ten games.

Who's Not? Teams Struggling to Gain Traction

On the other end of the spectrum, the Colorado Rockies are having a dismal season, holding the worst record in MLB at 18-60 (.231). Their struggles are highlighted by a staggering -202 run differential, indicating significant issues on both offense and defense. Their home record of 8-29 further underscores their difficulties.

The Chicago White Sox are also in deep trouble with a 25-54 (.316) record and a -83 run differential. They have a tough road ahead, evidenced by their 2-8 record in the last ten games. The Pittsburgh Pirates (32-48, .400) and Athletics (32-48, .400) are also languishing at the bottom of their respective divisions.

Several other teams are hovering around the .500 mark or below, struggling to find consistency. The Minnesota Twins (37-41, .474) have particularly struggled recently, with a 1-9 record in their last ten games, including a four-game losing streak. The Baltimore Orioles (34-44, .436) and Washington Nationals (33-46, .418) are also facing significant challenges in competitive divisions.

As the season progresses, these power rankings will undoubtedly shift, but as of late June 2025, the Tigers and Dodgers have established themselves as the teams to beat, while others face an uphill battle to turn their seasons around. The trade deadline will surely offer opportunities for struggling teams to retool and for contenders to bolster their rosters for a deeper playoff push.
