Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum has yet to hit his stride in the Paris Olympics with Team USA. He didn't play a single minute against Serbia in the opener, but he finally hit the court in the second game against South Sudan.
Tatum was named in Team USA's starting lineup against South Sudan and was relentlessly mocked anew after missing his first two shot attempts, including a corner three-pointer that hit the side of the backboard.
He eventually finished the game with four points, five rebounds, two assists, and one block while shooting 50 percent from the field in 17 minutes, as Team USA won with a score of 103-86.
Despite Jayson Tatum's up-and-down campaign so far, Team USA still made it to the quarterfinals, and they are the heavy favorites to win the Olympic gold medal.
Jayson Tatum breaks silence on his Team USA experience
Many were shocked when Team USA didn't play Jayson Tatum in the opener against Serbia. The Boston Celtics star was roasted so badly that head coach Steve Kerr said on record that he "felt like an idiot" for benching him.
"You win a championship, new contract, NBA 2K25 cover, Sports Illustrated... So after all of this, it's definitely a humbling experience," Tatum said.
Jayson Tatum could've lashed out for being benched because he is coming off an NBA title run this past season, but instead, he is taking the high road for his country.
