The Los Angeles Lakers recently signed star player LeBron James’ eldest son, Bronny James. Ultimately, fans have been looking forward to the youngster’s rookie season.
However, it’s crucial for the 19-year-old to be able to improve his skillset. With that, he’s open to the idea of spending time in the NBA G League to develop his skills instead of potentially warming the bench in the NBA.
What The NBA G League Means For Bronny
"I'm just looking forward to any basketball I play, no matter what level I'm playing at," said Bronny, via ESPN's Dave McMenamin.
Bronny still has a long career ahead of him, and significant improvements through the G League could help him be a better player. His openness to his constant improvements through assignments like these is definitely something worth noting.
He has been struggling in across three summer league appearances whereas he registered 6-26 from the field and 0-12 from 3. With those stats, Bronny thinks he has been in a slump.
Dane Johnson’s Thoughts
Lakers Summer League coach Dane Johnson believes that this is just the beginning of Bronny’s career, and it’s just something he can shrug off. However, he emphasized on how the G League will be able to help not just Bronny, but the other draftees as well.
“I think all these guys are going to be in the G League at some point–the draftees," he shared. However, he refused to comment on whether Bronny James will actually spend time on the G League.
"I don't know about that yet, so I can't really comment on that," Johnson said.
Dane does think that the NBA G League will help James’ skill development as well as his confidence. The youngster’s mindset on improving himself will definitely help his team and career flourish moving forward.
