Joe Mazzulla has developed quite the reputation of being a psychotic head coach with the Boston Celtics. He often says a lot of bizarre things to keep players like Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown invested in his system. Amid all of this, there is someone who really appreciates him in this lifetime. Who could this be? Well, it is none other than his wife Camai Mazzulla.
There have been a lot of bumpy roads throughout Joe Mazzulla's career. He had a nice college career with West Virginia but then failed to make it to the NBA. However, there was a silver lining amid all of this. He then found his way to Glenville State College where Camai was also coaching. The two hit it off and went on several dates before calling themselves a couple.
When the Celtics called Joe up to their coaching ranks, sacrifices had to be made. Camai stopped being a volleyball coach to became a courtroom clerk. This to support her husband and two kids.
Were there any regrets amid this life-altering decision? She outlined that there was none: “My passion wasn’t as strong in coaching as his was. I love sports. Obviously, I’ve done it my whole life, but his passion is just like out of this world and mine wasn’t. It just was not ideally going to work and I think it was a mature decision, a thought-out decision so we were very comfortable."
There are couples who are supportive of one another but then there is Joe Mazzulla and Camai Mazzulla who are on a whole other level.
