Eve Wembanyama grew up in France, and is the youngest in an athletic family and has shown an interest in different sports from a very young age. She would accompany her mother, a retired track and field sprinter, to the sports complex near their home, where she tried practically everything. Perhaps it was here that a passion for basketball she would come to be known by ignited. Her dad, a former professional handballer himself, also pushed Eve to try out all different sports so that she had 'universal' physical skills.

Her older brother, Victor Wembanyama, is already familiar to basketball fans. Victor is an NBA rising star, and she says his success has inspired her to continue working. As teenagers, the siblings were close and spent countless hours playing basketball.
