His father, Andy Aspinall also studied martial arts and opened Aspinall BJJ school when Tom was 12. Tom Aspinall is one of the most complete martial artists in the UFC with a black belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu, a 1-0 professional boxing record as well as a background in Catch Wrestling.

Tom Aspinall was born in Salford, in greater Manchester England. His father Andy quit his job and opened Aspinall BJJ when Tom was 12, to help his son train as there were few schools in the area. Aspinall grew up training in boxing, jiu-jitsu and wrestling. Aspinall trains with Team Kaboon in Liverpool England, where his father is an instructor.
At 18, Aspinall began his amateur career, posting a perfect 9-0 record before turning professional.

Career Highlights
Tom Aspinall was 9-0 as an amateur MMA fighter before turning professional. Aspinall’s first professional fights were with the British Association of Mixed Martial Arts, where he went 4-2. Aspinall later signed with Cage Warriors where he was 2-0 with two first round knockouts before signing with the UFC. Aspinall made his UFC debut in July of 2020 against Jake Collier. Aspinall knocked out Collier in round one and earned performance of the night honors. Aspinall knocked out Sergei Pavlovich in the first round at UFC 295 to become the interim heavyweight champion.
