Dwayne Johnson is an American Actor, Producer and Professional wrestler. He rose to fame during the World Wrestling Federation’s attitude era and is considered to be one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time. Johnson is also one of the highest paid and highest grossing actors in Hollywood. He currently is on the board of the WWE and UFC’s parent company TKO Group Holdings since 2024. Johnson also owns Seven Bucks Productions which have helped produce films such as Black Adam, Jungle Cruise as well as Hobbs & Shaw. Johnson is also the co-owner of the United Football League, previously known as the XFL.

Early Life and Football Career

Dwayne Johnson was born in Hayward California to Ata Fitisemanu and pro-wrestler Rocky Johnson. Johnson’s adoptive grandfather was pro wrestler Peter Maivia and his maternal grandmother Lia was a wrestling promoter. Johnson moved around a lot growing up but eventually played Football at Freedom High School in Pennsylvania. He later went on to play Division 1 at the University of Miami as a defensive tackle, winning a National Championship. He briefly played for the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League

Pro Wrestling Career

Johnson made his WWF debut in 1996 as “Rocky Maivia” to honor both his father and grandfather. In 1997, he changed his ring name to “the Rock”.He went on to have historic feuds with Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H and Hulk Hogan, becoming the face of the WWF during its biggest boom period. He left the WWF in 2004 for a career in Hollywood but has returned on several occasions to feud with John Cena in 2011-2012. In 2024, the Rock became a board member of TKO Group Holdings and returned to the WWE for Wrestlemania 40 as the Final Boss to feud with Cody Rhodes.

Johnson has starred as Luke Hobbs in the Fast and Furious franchise, Black Adam in the DCU and has starred in Disney’s Jungle Cruise, based on the iconic theme park attraction. In 2012, Johnson founded Seven Bucks Production, a production company that has generated over 4 billion at the box office.
