Sammy Sosa became quite a popular figure during his time serving as a member of the Chicago Cubs in the late 1990s, most notably in 1998 when he and Mark McGwire went on one of the greatest home-run races ever to pursue Roger Maris' sixty-one bombs. Sosa then carried the Cubs to the playoffs with his 66 home runs in that magical 1998 season which led to him being named National League MVP.
