Missouri Tigers: History, National Titles & Facts
The University of Missouri has played football since 1890 and joined the Southeastern Conference in 2012. Mizzou is widely credited as the birthplace of Homecoming, first held for the 1911 game against Kansas.

Missouri does not claim a national championship in football or men's basketball. As of 2026 the men's basketball team has not reached a Final Four.

- 1890: Played its first football season.

Missouri does not claim one. Single NCAA-designated major selectors named Missouri champion for 1960 (Poling System) and 2007 (Anderson & Hester).
