World Series history
The Marlins have reached the World Series twice through the 2025 season and won both times. Neither title team won a division; both entered the postseason as the wild card.
- 1997 World Series: beat the Cleveland Indians 4–3, winning Game 7 in 11 innings; Liván Hernández was MVP
- 2003 World Series: beat the New York Yankees 4–2; Josh Beckett was MVP
Franchise history
- 1991: MLB awarded Miami an NL expansion franchise on June 10.
- 1993: Began play as the Florida Marlins at Joe Robbie Stadium.
- 1997: Won the World Series in the franchise's fifth season, under manager Jim Leyland.
- 2003: Won a second title under Jack McKeon, clinched by Josh Beckett's Game 6 shutout at Yankee Stadium.
- 2012: Became the Miami Marlins and opened Marlins Park on the former Orange Bowl site.
- 2020: Beat the Chicago Cubs in the Wild Card Series, then lost the NLDS to Atlanta, the franchise's first postseason series loss.
- 2021: The ballpark was renamed loanDepot park.
