Arizona Cardinals: History, Super Bowls & Facts
The Cardinals trace their roots to 1898 in Chicago and are the oldest continuously run professional football franchise in the United States. They won NFL championships in 1925 and 1947 and played in Chicago, then St. Louis, before moving to Arizona in 1988.

Super Bowl history
The Cardinals have not won a Super Bowl as of 2026. They won two NFL championships before the Super Bowl era and reached Super Bowl XLIII after the 2008 season.
- 1925 NFL championship: awarded the title after the Pottsville Maroons were suspended
- 1947 NFL Championship Game: beat the Philadelphia Eagles 28–21
- 1948 NFL Championship Game: lost to the Eagles 7–0 in a snowstorm
- 2008 NFC Championship Game: beat the Eagles 32–25
- Super Bowl XLIII (2008 season): lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers 27–23
Franchise history
- 1898: Formed in Chicago as the Morgan Athletic Club.
- 1920: Became a charter member of the league that became the NFL.
- 1947: Won the NFL Championship Game over the Eagles.
- 1960: Moved to St. Louis.
- 1988: Moved to the Phoenix area; renamed the Arizona Cardinals in 1994.
- 2006: Opened their stadium in Glendale, named State Farm Stadium since 2018.
- 2026: Larry Fitzgerald was enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame on August 8.
