The Phoenix Suns traded Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, and five second-round picks extending to 2032. This move sends Durant to a Rockets team that made the playoffs for the first time since 2020.

In another significant deal, the Boston Celtics have been active in reshaping their roster, aiming to reduce payroll below the NBA's luxury tax apron. Brown, who signed a five-year, $285 million contract, has spent his entire career with the Celtics and is a key part of their core alongside Jayson Tatum. Celtics GM Brad Stevens has publicly stated his confidence in the team's foundation, including Brown, Jaylen, and others, suggesting a desire to maintain their core despite Tatum's injury. However, the Rockets' aggressive pursuit signals that a move for Brown, while difficult, is not out of the question.

Khris Middleton opted into his $33.3 million player option for the 2025-26 season with the Washington Wizards. However, Middleton played only 14 games for the Wizards last season after being traded from the Milwaukee Bucks, averaging 11.9 points and 3.7 rebounds, his lowest performance since his rookie year.
