Khabib Nurmagomedov is no stranger to both Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor. After all, he shared the octagon and even beat both UFC Lightweight contenders.

The Eagle, now retired from fighting, was once again asked about his two cents on the upcoming grudge match between his former foes on the main event of UFC 264 on July 11.

Poirier and McGregor split their first two bouts, both finishing the other in spectacular fashion. Now, it’s time to put an end to their rivalry once and for all.

Khabib once again aired a similar prediction to the one he said earlier in the McGregor versus Poirier rematch last January.

“Once again, same thing here — the first round is for Conor, he can take it,” Nurmagomedov said (via UFC Russia). “If he doesn’t [win in the first round], then Dustin [Poirier] wins.”

While Khabib’s take is pretty vague, it does remain true. We all know about The Notorious’ penchant for starting (and finishing) fights early. But once he’s taken to deep waters, he does have the tendency to fade away.

We’ve seen that in the Poirier rematch, where the Diamond finished the Irishman in the second round. Then again, McGregor has been known to bounce back after tough losses.

He did that to Nate Diaz back in 2016.

Do you agree with Khabib Nurmagomedov’s take on the McGregor versus Poirier trilogy?
