Aside from being one of the most dominant fighters in all of mixed martial arts, Khabib Nurmagomedov is also known as a man of strong faith.

Hence, he’s always had some reservations about what he perceives as scantily dressed ring girls during fights.

The former UFC Lightweight champion, who is now retired from MMA, recently drew headlines for calling ring girls “useless”.

“What is their function? You can show that it is the second round on the screen. Do they develop a sport? Or they help people to see that it is the second round now? What are they doing? Tell me, please,” Nurmagomedov said in a recent interview.

Of course, this reached the UFC’s OG ring girl Arianny Celeste, who didn’t take The Eagle’s comments nicely.

But instead of directing her ire on Khabib, she took to Instagram and answered with class.

“I’ve worked over 15 years in this industry and learned it’s easier just to simply NOT CARE,” she wrote.

“For 15 years we have been more than just ring girls - we have dedicated time in promoting ufc and showing love and time to our die-hard fans through touring the world and personal appearances.”

Here’s her full quote:

Let’s be honest. The rings girls are there to serve as eye candy, but we can’t really deny the impact they’ve had in the UFC.

Some fans look forward to meeting the likes of Celeste and Brittney Palmer as much as the fighters themselves.

They’ve been a big part of almost every combat sports for years, regardless of their actual job function.

Khabib may not like having rings girls around, but most fans certainly don’t share the same sentiment.
