What is NIL?

NIL. Name, image, and likeness. It's one of the most significant changes to the NCAA and college sports in history.

For those who may have missed it, student-athletes were finally given the opportunity to be compensated for their name, image and likeness or NIL rights after the Supreme Court ruled that the NCAA couldn't limit education-related payments to student-athletes.

The NCAA instituted the new policy which came into effect on July 1, 2022, while several states also passed NIL laws which went into effect on the same day. Meanwhile, the NCAA instructed schools in states that hadn't passed NIL laws to set their own policy.

The new rules finally made it possible for athletes to sign endorsement deals and earn from their likeness after decades of being denied that right. A number of high-profile athletes wasted little time in signing lucrative deals in the six and seven figures.

Of course, those types of big-money deals are few and far between. But still, the new NIL rules have opened new avenues for all student-athletes to earn from their likeness.

Many of these student-athletes have capitalized on this momentous change in college sports by partnering up with Fan Arch, which is staunchly in support of student-athletes' ability to earn from their likeness.

Fan Arch provides them with an online platform to get their high-quality products and merchandise - from shirts to hoodies to jogging pants and many more - out to fans and other people who would like to purchase their gear.

Since the new NIL rules are still all relatively new, there are still some kinks that need to be ironed out in terms of how the entire system works. The NCAA is still issuing new guidance to schools on what sorts of activities they can and cannot be part of.

Nevertheless, it is clear that the NIL changes are a major step in the right direction as they finally give student-athletes the opportunity to be financially compensated.

1000+ professional athletes and influencers have personalized merchandise on the Fan Arch’s website!

Fan Arch aims to transcend the narrative by making it easier to bridge the gap between athletes, influencers, and their fans. Check out our creative and personalized collection through Fanarch.com.
