UTSA will be a problem with the addition of Trelon Smith

The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) had one of the best Cinderella stories in all of sports last season. After shedding their underdog tags, the Road Runners have re-tooled and are bringing along a talented running back to the fold.

Former Arkansas RB Trelon Smith committed to UTSA after entering the transfer portal last season. Trelon Smith initially chose the TCU Horned Frogs as his destination, but had a change of heart and will be rocking the Road Runners’ colors instead.

The UTSA community is obviously thrilled to have a player of his caliber on their side next season. Trelon Smith spent two seasons with the Razorbacks from 2017 to 2018. He appeared in 23 games and logged in 253 carries for 1,308 yards and five touchdowns.

Apart from his breakneck speed and amazing reflexes, Trelon Smith also brings some much-needed veteran experience to the Road Runners.

Trelon Smith was considered a redshirt senior in 2021 and was granted a sixth season of eligibility after signing the NCAA’s COVID-19 waiver for the 2020 season.

Trelon Smith will certainly get all the minutes he deserves under Jeff Traylor’s fast-paced offense. Plus, Trelon Smith will be playing alongside his fellow Fan Arch athlete Frank Harris.
