Terrance McKinney wants Paddy Pimblett next after back-to-back 1st round finishes
Terrance McKinney wants Paddy Pimblett next after back-to...
Another day, another first-round finish for Terrance McKinney. The 27-year-old Lightweight rising star once again showed why it’s about damn time we hop aboard his hype train, needing less than a round to finish Eric Gonzales at UFC Vegas 59 over the weekend.
With vengeance on his mind after Drew Sober snapped his five-fight winning streak in his last outing, Terrance McKinney came out firing in the opening bell. T-Wrecks imposed some early pressure and landed big shots.
But the Fan Arch athlete got a bit too carried away and actually got stunned by a methodical counter punch from Gonzales. Terrance McKinney, however, showed great resolve this time around and recovered. He was able to take the fight to the ground and immediately jumped on his opponent’s back.
It was the beginning of the end for Ghost Pepper, as T-Wrecks latched on an incredibly tight rear-naked choke and forced a tap-out at the 2:17 mark of the first round.Terrance McKinney’s third UFC win in four matches, all ending in an incredible and swift fashion.

While most young guys would beat around the bush about their future, Terrance McKinney already knew whom he wants to fight next.
T-Wrecks called out arguably the most hyped Lightweight prospect in the UFC right now, Paddy Pimblett.
“Paddy the Baddy, where you at? Let’s get it,” an excited Terrance McKinney said after getting his hand raised.
Terrance McKinney even doubled down on his call-out in the post-fight news conference, as relayed by MMA Junkie.
“I think it’s just right, man. The fans will love it. I think it’s just about time for us to clash. It’s just a matter of time. Even if it’s not this year, it’s going to come. Me and Paddy will headline a (UFC show). It’s going to be a sellout fight. … I need the crowd, man. I’m like Goku. I need the spirit bomb. Give me that energy. I need the crowd, Dana (White). Come on.”
Securing a fight with Paddy Pimblett will certainly result in a huge payday for all Lightweights, considering he’s the UFC’s golden goose right now. But on paper, this fight actually makes sense.
Terrance McKinney and Paddy Pimblett are both 27 years old and have achieved 100 percent finishing rates in their young UFC career.
Make it happen, UFC!
Meanwhile, Terrance McKinney understands that Pimblett is a hot commodity right now and wouldn’t mind taking on two UFC legends if a bout with Baddie won’t materialize.
“Either Jim Miller or Bobby Green. What’s up?” McKinney said. “It would be an honor to fight either one of you guys. You guys are legends. … (I like) just the way they carry themselves outside of the cage and how they’re really about the fighting and how they’re still evolving like true martial artists. Even as they get older, their game is always still evolving. That’s something I look up to.’
