Kelee Ringo is getting ready to say goodbye to a glittering college career with Georgia and hello to the NFL. Most mock drafts have the Georgia cornerback going in the mid-to-late first round, but one more standout performance on the biggest game of the year - the national championship game - could very well raise his draft stock that much further.
Of course, Kelee Ringo is no stranger to making big plays on the big stage. Who could forget that it was his terrific pick-six that clinched Georgia's first national title since 1980 against rivals Alabama last season, a play that is the inspiration for one of his shirt designs over on Fan Arch.
And the Bulldogs will need one more big game from their star defensive back against TCU if they are to clinch back-to-back championships.
Kelee Ringo and the rest of the vaunted Georgia secondary had their issues containing Ohio State star wideout Marvin Harrison Jr. in the Peach Bowl. Harrison Jr. had five catches for 106 yards and two touchdowns before sitting out the rest of the game due to a concussion.
Kelee Ringo and the Bulldogs D will have a chance to redeem themselves against TCU, though. The Horned Frogs have their own star wideout in Quentin Johnston, who, like Ringo, is slated to go in the first round of the NFL Draft. And with the status of TCU’s star running back Kendre Miller still in doubt, Quentin Johnston will be even more crucial to the Horned Frogs.
With his combination of size, speed and athleticism, Kelee Ringo has all the tools to help take out TCU’s top receiving weapon, which would significantly boost Georgia’s chances of winning another national championship, not to mention his stock ahead of the NFL Draft.
