Germie Bernard is finally a Washington Husky. That's after announcing his decision to transfer from Michigan State after just one season at East Lansing.

The young wideout had initially signed a letter of intent with Washington last December, but he was let out of it after wide receivers coach Junior Adams left the team.

So Germie Bernard instead followed his high school quarterback to Michigan State, where he had seven catches for 128 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games as a true freshman.

But Bernard has decided that Seattle is where he truly belongs, and the Huskies are more than happy to welcome him home.

In Germie Bernard, Washington will now be adding yet another dangerous receiving weapon to an already prolific passing attack that led the nation last season with 369.8 yards per game.

Third-year sophomores Rome Odunze (70 catches, 1,088 yards, 7 TDs) and Jalen McMillan (71 catches, 1,040, 8 TDs) made history by becoming the first UW teammates to top 1,000 receiving yards in the same season. And redshirt freshman Ja’Lynn Polk added 38 catches, 649 receiving yards with 6 TDs.

Although, it remains to be seen whether Odunze and McMillan will return next season or enter the NFL Draft. But quarterback Michael Penix Jr., who ranked second in the nation in passing yards with 4,354, is planning to return for his sixth year, and he will still have some capable weapons at his disposal, especially with Bernard’s arrival.

After getting few opportunities as a true freshman at Michigan State last season, Germie Bernard is bound to make an instant impact at Washington. He will now be in a system that can maximize his true potential, and we’re all set to see it in Year 1.
