After setting the two fastest times of the year in the USATF, Fred Kerley went on to finish the 100m dash in the World Track and Field Championships at a whopping 9.86 seconds.
His fellow Americans Marvin Bracy-Williams and Trayvon Bromell each ran an impressive 9.88 for a podium finish. But with Fred Kerley in the mix, we know everyone else is just competing for second place.
The Americans’ medal sweep of the event, meanwhile, marked the US’ first time in the world men’s 100m since 1991 and the first in any event at worlds since 2007. Team USA is finally asserting its dominance in athletics once more, and Fred Kerley is leading the charge.

Fred Kerley wasn’t even supposed to be here. He had his sights on becoming an NFL player but ultimately change sports after breaking his collar bone in his senior year of high school. Fred Kerley was also a 400m runner back in 2019 but switched to the 100m and 200m when his ankles felt a little sore at the 2021 US Olympic trials.
