Davonte Brown is one of the University of Florida’s best defenders. The Fan Arch athlete has the tools to arguably become college football’s best cornerback.
Davonte Brown has been around football for his entire life, following in the footsteps of his father Selwyn Brown who played for the University of Miami and also played one season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL.
After a stellar high school career in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Davonte Brown was thrust into the starting lineup of the UCF Knights in 2020, starting five of the team’s first 10 games. It was indeed trial by fire for the young buck, but he welcomed the challenge wholeheartedly.
After a tough learning curve, Davonte Brown found his groove mid-season and adjusted to the speed of the game at the collegiate level.
The defensive specialist showed improved overall technique and played with supreme confidence by the end of his freshman year.

After getting his feet wet in his first year, Davonte Brown showed even more promise in 2021. He finished the 2021 season with 13 pass breakups, which was third in the AAC. Davonte Brown also tallied one interception, 38 tackles, and two tackles for loss.
But perhaps his most amazing individual feat was having the second-most coverage snaps played among AAC Cornerbacks without allowing a TD, just behind Ahmad Gardner.

Aside from actually being big for his position — Davonte Brown is a 6-foot-2, 185-lb. cornerback — he plays like one too.
Davonte Brown uses his physical advantages to their fullest and overwhelms opponents with relentless pressure. He displayed the ability to take away a primary receiver by himself, something that the UCF defense will definitely exploit moving forward.
