Stefon Thompson left quite an impression in his freshman season with the Syracuse Orange. His amazing performance certainly turned a lot of heads and made a lot of jaws drop. But in reality, we ain’t seen nothing yet.
Stefon Thompson is an absolute beast with a ton of potential. In the 2020 season, the 6-foot-1 linebacker started seven of his first 10 games. The defensive standout registered 35 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks, and a forced fumble on the season.
While his first foray into collegiate football was cut short due to the pandemic, Stefon Thompson did not make excuses for himself and continued honing his craft. Most young players would just use it as an excuse to slack off, but Stefon Thompson comes from a rare breed.
The fruits of his hard work showed on the field in the 2021 season, where he started all 12 games for the Orangemen. Stefon Thompson tallied 79 tackles (second-most on the team), along with averages of 6.0 sacks and 8.0 tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles.
Stefon Thompson also gave a lot of opposing quarterbacks hell, as he completed six sacks, which tied for the sixth-most by a sophomore in Syracuse history.

The Syracuse Orange, meanwhile, lost some important players this offseason after they applied to the transfer portal. The team will be more reliant than ever on their talented defensive linemen, with Stefon Thompson in the thick of things.
For his efforts, Stefon Thompson was even included in Athlon Sports' Preseason All-ACC third team. This simply means other teams are starting to take notice of his capabilities.
He’ll be in the scouting reports of opposing coaches moving forward, that’s for sure. Good thing Stefon Thompson is not the type to back down from any challenge.
