Jake (along with his brother Logan Paul) broke out on the now-defunct social media platform Vine before shifting to YouTube and becoming a household name. Jake is well-known for his controversial behavior and polarizing personality, yet he has still found a way to keep himself on the radar of the entertainment industry. Though most of the credit for his success should be given to him, it will not be entirely right if we do not mention how pivotal a role was played in his rise by his parents, Greg Allan Paul and Pam Ann Stepnick.

Overview of Greg Allan Paul

Greg Allan Paul, born October 28, 1963, in Cincinnati, Ohio, is a licensed realtor and former commercial roofer. Greg, the harsh personality of a man with strict parenting, has built his sons Jake Paul and Logan Paul to be who they are now. He has been depicted as a disciplinarian, breeding toughness and grit into his kids virtually from birth. Many of the positive and negative images surrounding Greg's parenting were due in part to physical abuse claims melted out by family members on a Netflix documentary.

Through all of this controversy, Greg has remained a part of his sons' lives and is often seen on their YouTube channels participating in or supporting whatever comes next. He even has his own YouTube channel, through which he gives us a sneak peek of what goes on in his life and adventures. Both Jake and Logan brought up Greg's influence on them, from their work ethic to the determination he drilled into the teens' guts growing up.

Pam Ann Stepnick was Born July 27, 1963, and spent her early years growing up in Lakewood, Ohio. Pam used to work as a nurse at the UHHS Westlake Surgery Center and other health facilities before emerging into social media fame. She is more nurturing and compassionate, which works well given Greg's sometimes rigid authoritarian style.

Years later, Pam did end up embracing the digital age with her own YouTube channel, "VlogMom," which launched in April 2017. Her channel has nearly 700k subscribers and close to a staggering number of views (27M), which shows she can also tap into audiences all on her own, away from the fame fully reliant on her sons. Pam is a fixture in Jake and Logan's lives, regularly appearing at their boxing matches and other public appearances.

There is hardly any denial of Greg and Pam's influence on Jake Paul's career. Greg and Ruth both had old-school beliefs in the necessity of hard work, a mentality that gave Jake an intense focus on chasing his dreams.
