Bernadette Robi: The Woman Behind Boxing Legend Sugar Ray Leonard

Bernadette Robi was born in the US on April 18, 1958. She is maritally descended from a musical family. Her father was Paul Robi, one of the original singers in The Platters. Unfortunately, though, Paul breathed his last in Los Angeles on February 1, 1989. In her biography, Bernadette Robi Mentions that not much is known about her mother, Marth Robi since she hardly appears in the limelight.

The only child of her parents, Bernadette must have had an unconventional childhood and, more than likely, one greatly influenced by a music-loving dad. Given what we know about her background, growing up in an environment where the entertainment industry would be no stranger to us as children could have been one of many factors that we were attractively drawn towards and came comfortably for us before long.

By the time she was recognized as Sugar Ray Leonard's wife, Bernadette Robi had already made a name for herself in modeling. They met while still newly untangled from their prior marriages. Robi was married to former football player Lynn Swann from 1979-1983. Leonard, meanwhile, divorced his first wife, Juanita Wilkinson, in December 1990 after over ten years together.

In her caption, Robi, who noted that Sugar Ray is the toughest of guys in the boxing realm, said it was probably his gentle nature and "soft" side that she has seen many times off-camera. From this prolonged courtship, they laid what Coach Flanigan described as "a good, strong foundation for their relationship," far removed from the harsh glare that had occupied Leonard throughout his boxing lifetime. Family Life

Bernadette and Sugar Ray have a lovely family. They have two children: a daughter, Camille Leonard (born in 1997), and a son, Daniel Ray Leonard, born in 2000. The stunning 19-year-old has followed in her mom's modeling footsteps. She is also an established social media personality and businesswoman.

Preserving the Legacy of Sugar Ray Leonard
