There are few more popular NBA parents than that of Sonya and Dell Curry. Not only do they have two sons that are prominent players in the league, but you can also say that the image of this endearing couple was part and parcel of the Golden State Warriors’ dynasty run a couple of years back.

Shockingly, Sonya and Dell, the parents of Stephen Curry and Seth Curry, have apparently filed for divorce after 33 years of marriage. This report comes via TMZ Sports:

“TMZ Sports has learned Sonya Curry has filed for divorce from Dell Curry.

55-year-old Sonya put in the paperwork back on June 14 in North Carolina according to court records. A court official tells us the divorce is still ongoing.”

TMZ’s report also noted that “the reason for the split are unclear” at this point. However, it appears that the couple’s differences are irreconcilable as they’ve now resorted to a permanent separation.

Dell, 57, and Sonya, 55, first met in college. Both of them attended Virginia Tech where they were both student athletes. This was way before Dell Curry entered the NBA where he would have a memorable career. They got married in 1988 and this was the same year they had their first son, Steph.

Steph and Seth have yet to comment on their parents’ alleged split, but we’re pretty sure they’re both gutted about this development. The same can probably be said of their younger sister, Sydel.
