Rudy Winkler broke the american record in the event that stood for 25 years with a throw of 82.71m. 1996 silver medalist Lance Deal, the man who previously held the record, was in attendance and said that he was “so proud of [Winkler]”.
Alex Young and Daniel Haugh also qualified for the summer’s games as they posted PB during Sunday's competition.
