Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, born on July 12, 1998, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, began his basketball journey at a young age, mentored by his father, Vaughn Alexander, and influenced by his mother, Charmaine Gilgeous, a former track star.

He attended multiple high schools, including St. Thomas More Catholic Secondary School and Sir Allan MacNab Secondary School in Hamilton, Ontario, before transferring to Hamilton Heights Christian Academy in Chattanooga, Tennessee, for his junior and senior years.

His standout performance led him to the University of Kentucky, where he played for the Wildcats during the 2017-2018 season, showcasing his exceptional skills on the court.

The NBA Draft and Early Career

In the 2018 NBA Draft, SGA was selected as the 11th overall pick by the Charlotte Hornets and subsequently traded to the Los Angeles Clippers on the same day.

This marked the beginning of his professional career in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

His rookie season with the Clippers was characterized by notable performances, including a season-best 24 points in a game against the Portland Trail Blazers and an impressive 25 points in a playoff game against the Golden State Warriors.

Transition to the Oklahoma City Thunder 

In a significant trade in July 2019, Gilgeous-Alexander moved from the Clippers to the Oklahoma City Thunder, along with Danilo Gallinari and multiple draft picks, in exchange for NBA All-Star Paul George.

This transition marked a pivotal moment in his career, as he continued to grow and excel with the Thunder. His preseason debut with the Thunder showcased his potential, recording 24 points and four rebounds in a victory over the Dallas Mavericks.
